For many years, communities in the South Bay have faced extreme pollution from the Tijuana River. Because the infrastructure made to clean water from raw sewage is not maintained or working properly, the water and air are contaminated. This problem not only harms the environment, but it can cause health problems for residents of south San Diego County. Advocacy groups are working together to raise awareness about this crisis and asking elected officials to fix it:

American Rivers.
