South Bay Union School District Home

Superintendent's Message

Dear South Bay Community,

We start this year with new Mission and Vision statements. We believe South Bay Union School District is the foundation for the community in which students grow academically and socially into responsible members of society. Our new Values echo this belief and will guide our work this year: Academic Achievement, Child Centered, Community, Equity, High Expectations, Leadership, and Safety.

We also have a new Local Control and Accountability Plan for 2024-2027. This document provides a renewed focus on school climate, academic achievement, and organizational structures. The Plan includes three goals that address on the following:

Academic Excellence for All Students: All students will demonstrate growth towards meeting or exceeding standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics, and Multilingual Learners will demonstrate progress in developing English language proficiency.

District and School Climate, Culture, and Connectedness: We will create and maintain equitable, welcoming, and safe learning environments that value diversity, language, individual culture, identity, interests, and the contributions of all educational partners, while also building the capacity and efficacy of all.

Effective Organizational Systems: We believe that all educational partners play an integral role in contributing to and living out the District Vision, Mission, and Values. It is only through a collective effort that we will be successful in creating a highly effective and successful organization.

As we are in the third year of our Reflect, Redefine, and Rebuild initiative, the work of the Asset Management Superintendent's Advisory Committee will continue. This team will develop and evaluate numerous options on how to more efficiently use our school sites to meet the needs of students and staff. Please visit our website often for more information on this project.
